Carlton Towers Wedding Photographer – Becca and Jay
Rebecca and Jacob wanted a luxurious setting for their wedding. Carlton Towers, a Grade I Victorian gothic country house in Carlton, North Yorkshire, perfectly fit the bill. The historic property belongs to the younger brother of the current Duke of Norfolk. Although the family still live in part of the house, it’s now largely used for weddings and similar events.
The Grandeur of Carlton Towers
Photography was very important to Becca and Jay, and they wanted us to capture the grandeur of Carlton Towers, both inside and out. From our perspective, it was a wonderful venue to photograph. The interior is incredibly ornate and filled with numerous beautiful locations. We were spoilt for choice while shooting the couple’s portraits!
With its ornate fireplace and chimneypiece decorated with heraldry, the Venetian Drawing Room provided an opulent backdrop for the couple’s ceremony. With Becca and Jay smiling and laughing througout, it was an incredibly happy occasion.
A September Wedding
Autumn was just beginning to creep in and part of the building’s exterior was covered in vibrant red leaves. It contrasted beautifully with Becca’s gown which she bought from Verona Couture, the bridal boutique where she works, altering wedding gowns for other brides-to-be. Her four bridesmaids were dressed in beautiful pale-blue, floor-length gowns while Jay and his groomsmen wore smart navy-blue suits.
Carlton Towers is surrounded by beautiful countryside. We wandered through the grounds and photographed the couple sitting on a tree-swing trimmed with flowers. With a flock of sheep grazing in the background, it perfectly captures the stunning rural location. With permission from the owners, we were also able to take some pictures in the venue’s own private vineyard.
Personal Touches and Pulling Pints
The couple incorporated some lovely personal touches throughout their wedding day. For example, the bottom tier of their beautiful wedding cake was made by Becca’s grandmother.
Jay brewed his own beer for the reception, attending a workshop at Carlton Towers hosted by the Little Black Dog Beer Co. Naturally, we photographed him pulling the first pint!
We were also able to capture the couple’s first dance as husband and wife. The dance floor quickly grew crowded and the party was soon in full swing. The perfect end to a perfect day!
Congratulations again, Becca and Jay!
