Wollaton Hall Wedding Photography – Abbey and Richard
Wollaton Hall is an absolutely beautiful place for wedding photography inside and out. The Hall is such a majestic place on the edge of Nottingham City and is located in 500 acres of parkland. The main inhabitants at Wollaton Hall are the red and fallow deer. The parkland has a lake, many species of trees, a formal garden and a cast-iron framed glass house called the Camellia House. The Camellia House is an ideal space for pre-reception drinks and canapés and wedding photography before the wedding reception which is held in the Hall.
Wollaton Hall stars in a film.
In 2011 Wollaton Hall shot to fame when it stared in the film The Dark Knight Rises. It became Wayne Manor with actors Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldham, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine all on set. Here is a little bit of information that might be of interest – the Hall is five miles north of Gotham, Nottinghamshire from which Gotham City got it’s name.
Abbey and Richard’s Wedding
Well last year we wouldn’t have guessed what it would be like this year, that is, 2020. Covid hit the Wedding Industry as well as other businesses. Firstly, weddings under the restrictions only allowed 30 guests and then it went down to 15 guests, then none. Abbey and Richard’s wedding fell under the first of the restrictions. Even then it must have been so hard for them to cull the number of guests. They decided to keep to very close family and friends at their wedding and then to have a big party in March next year inviting everyone.
We didn’t allow for any preparation shots due to the restrictions. We met Richard at Wollaton Hall, social distancing of course. The masks that were worn by the guests were pretty cool as they had the letter ‘W’ on them. This was on purpose to represent their surname as well as Wollaton Hall. It was very surreal to see everyone in masks especially in the Prospect Room where they held their wedding ceremony. However it kind of worked as they intentionally colour coordinated the masks with the colour of the room.
As a homage to Batman, Richard had a miniature Batman attached to his button hole which we thought was rather cute.
The Prospect Room is stunning for wedding ceremonies. It has panoramic views over Nottingham and is an ideal room for wedding photography. It is surrounded by huge windows which makes the light in there absolutely gorgeous.
On top of Wollaton Hall lives an incredible rooftop that gives breathtaking views of the Wollaton Park. It is an ideal place to enjoy some time away from guests, and to take some unique, beautiful wedding photos.
The Camellia House is located in the formal gardens of Wollaton Hall. It has fantastic views.
